Ghana Football Association Considering Hiring Psychologist For Black Stars

The Ghana Football Association is seriously considering employing a psychologist as a permanent member of the Black Stars technical team.
A similar provision was made for the team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals in Germany but the service was dispensed with after subsequent coaches declined the offer.
The Federation has been pushed by the fall-outs of the just ended Africa Cup of Nations to consider hiring a psychologist.
“We had it (psychologist) in 2006 but when we appointed a new coach (Claude Leroy) he said he didn’t need one because he himself is a psychologist,” Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi said.
“When Milo (Milovan Rajevac) came he also said he didn’t need one.
“But happenings in Gabon suggest to us that perhaps we need to consider employing a psychologist as part of the technical team.”
Stevanovic cited the use of ‘Black Magic’ by players against each other during the tournament as one of the reasons for Ghana’s failure at the Nations Cup in his report.
He recommended ways be implored to talk players out of this mentality.
