Victor Smith urges civil servants to promote patriotism
Ambassador Victor Smith who made the remark during an interaction session with Heads of Departments of the New Juaben Municipal Assembly in Koforidua as part of his familiarization tour of the municipality said, Ghana can only achieve the needed development only if people in positions of authority will eschew the pursuit of personal advancement and be nationalistic in their attitude towards work.
The Minister further added that conducts of the various Heads of Civil Service Departments should be worthy of emulation by their subordinates, to enable them also impart in future when they take over leadership of the public sector.
Mr Smith noted that it will be wrong for any Civil Servant to sabotage government programs because it is not their party of preference, adding that it is necessary for all to rally around any government voted for by electorate to deliver on their programs, so that Ghana can achieve the needed development.
“If all Civil Servants will bury their differences after elections and support governments of the day, Ghana will be a better place”. Ambassador Victor Smith added.
The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juaben Mr Alex Asamoah commended the Regional Minister and hoped their relationship with the Minister who came to the region some months ago soars into greater heights.
The Minister’s tour of the Municipality further took him to the newly constructed Oyoko Clinic and Oyoko Presby Primary School where he interacted with patients and the contractors respectively, to ascertain their needs and how government can assist them to speed-up work.
Ambassador Smith also paid a courtesy call on the leaders of the Koforidua Muslim community where they deliberated on development of the area and inspected an ongoing road project in the area as well as the plush Koforidua lorry park which is yet to be opened to public.
