Thousands queue at dawn to see Mills’ body

Joy News' Seth Kwame Boateng reporting from the State House where the file past is expected to resume this morning said, there is a long queue of expectant Ghanaians eager to see the mortal remains of the former president.

Some arrived as early as 3am in order to beat the expected long and winding queue of many who would want to file past the body.

As at 6am on Thursday, the queue had extended to the Military cemetery, our reporter said.

“We were here around 3:40 am just to see our president to pay our last respect to him. We want to see him before [he is buried],” Emilia from Calvary International noted.

Another person remarked: “He is our father; we have the love for him that is why we have come to see him.”

Meanwhile, the committee planning the funeral says it is putting in place measures to contain the huge crowd.

Crowd control was a key challenge for organizers yesterday, but a member of the Committee, Nana Ato Dadzie tells Joy News the situation should improve today.

Mr. Dadzie said the committee is also screening requests from identifiable groups who want to perform special rites for the late president.

The police administration has also promised to rectify any security elapses that may have occurred yesterday at the State House during the funeral rites.

Director-General in charge of Operations, COP John Kudalor told Joy News they are hopeful the situation will improve today.
