Agogo residents to sue Security Council again if…

Residents of Agogo in the Ashanti Region have threatened to sue the Ashanti Regional Security Council again if Fulani herdsmen residing in the area are not evicted.

The Kumasi High Court ordered the Security Council to drive away the herdsmen after the residents took the Council to court over the matter.

The residents, who accused the nomads of raping their women and allowing their cattle to destroy their farms, say a committee set up by the Council recommended the forceful eviction of the herdsmen by July 31.

Although Fulani herdsmen residing in the area say they will comply with the directive before the end of July, the spokesperson for the residents, Kinsley Obeng told Joynews the herdsmen have not yet obliged.

He however said they have postponed any action until after the funeral of the late President Mills.

“…Due to the death of the president we want to wait until after the funeral then we can pursue the case. Because if we don’t take care we shall send the case back to court…from 15th (August) onwards you shall hear from us,” he noted.
