Majid Michel: I’m Being Careful Of Crap Movies
Award-winning Ghanaian actor Majid Michel has stated that he will be careful with the kind of movies he features in henceforth as all eyes are on him now.
Majid was last month adjudged Africa’s overall best actor, beating other top African actors and two others who had a stint with Hollywood. Prior to that, he had been named best actor at the Ghana Movie Awards twice.
He was nominated for the AMAA four times. Winning Africa’s best actor award this year came to him as a surprise. “This means more challenge. This means more eyes on me. This means if I do anything below the line, I’m in trouble. People will say he is the AMAA winner let’s go and watch the next movie he is coming out with.
It is a crap movie, I’m dead. AMAA is challenge but I’m going to be back,” he told NEWS-ONE. Majid beat Hollywood superstars Hakeem Kae Kazim and Chet Anekwe; Wale Ojo from Nigeria, and top actors Karado Lance, Jafta Mamabolo and Menzi Ngubane- all from South Africa to be crowned the best actor in Africa.
Majid, the son of a Lebanese father and a Ghanaian mother, grew up in Accra and schooled at St. Theresa’s Primary School, and Mfantsipim School.
He has featured in quite a number of Ghanaian and Nollywood movies and has gradually become an iconic figure in Africa’s movie industry. He first starred in the movie ‘Divine Love’ in 2004 which also featured Jackie Appiah and Van Vicker.
Since then, Majid has gone on to star in dozens of movies, some of which include ‘Bursting Out’, ‘ ‘Silent Scandal’, ‘The Game’, ‘Somewhere In Africa’, ‘4play’, ‘Chelsea’ and ‘Crime to Christ’. He has won a number of awards within a short period of time. Some of them are ZAFAA Award and NAFCA.
