Joy FM registers 1,000 'kayayei' under NHIS
Easter Soup Kitchen is one of Joy FM’s flagship annual events which fetes thousands of street children and also provides them with some basic health care as well as some clothing.
At this year’s Easter Soup Kitchen, Joy FM promised to go beyond fêting and merry making to insure the head porters and their children are registered with the NHIS.
The Head of Marketing at Joy FM, Max Fugar Tuesday presented a cheque for Gh¢10,090 to the Scheme Manager, Linda Acquah Ayawaso NHIS being the premium payment for 1,000 head porters.
According to Max Fugar, the move is a step further in expanding the corporate social responsibilities of Multimedia Group Limited.
Rafiatu Abu who received the NHIS cards on behalf of the head porters said she was grateful for the continuous assistance Joy FM has been offering them.
She however pleaded that the media giant should take steps to stem the migration of head porters from the Northern part of Ghana.
She stated that creating more jobs in the north would help cut the migration of the girls to the south.
