Sudan: China Welcomes Sudan, South Sudan Oil Agreement

South Sudanese citizens show support for their government's decision to shut down all national oil production, effectively cutting off the flow of crude oil from South Sudan to Sudan (file photo).

Beijing — China has welcomed Tuesday an oil agreement between Sudan and South Sudan in which the both States have agreed to divide their oil resources a matter which allows the resumption of the crude of the South Sudan via Sudan, and it has urged the South Sudan State to protect interests of its partners.

The Spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry ,Qin Gang, said in a statement to the China News Agency (Xinhua) that China has appreciated the practical and flexible and responsible attitude of the both parties during the negotiations in Addis Ababa as well as praising the role of the African Union in brokering the deal between the two countries. Qin has called on the two parties to find more political courage to maintain the momentum for negotiation and resolve the outstanding issues in the sound atmosphere in addition to cooperate with the international mediation efforts It is to be mention that most of the oil fields were located in South Sudan state ,where the pipelines and seaports in Sudan.
